On the first morning, young learners are taken to the school by their host family (if applicable). After arriving at the school, young learners are given a diagnostic test to ascertain their English language level to be placed into the appropriate class.
The test is followed by an introductory talk about the course, school, and the city to help familiarise students with their new environment. Young learners are led through the CELT welcome pack which includes the course timetable, social programme (if applicable), student guidelines, a map of Cardiff, and a student ID card displaying the contact details for their homestay, the school, our Accommodation and Welfare Officer, taxis, and emergency services.
Finally, young learners are taken by a CELT teacher for a walking tour of Cardiff to discover the city centre and find the relevant bus stops to return to their homestay. After taking in the major landmarks, students are given a welcome activity to complete in small groups to find out more about Cardiff and Wales.
