Young Learners
During the academic year (September to June), CELT specialises in organising closed group courses for young learners in our North Road teaching centre.
We can design courses for one or more weeks, with or without social activities. Our normal teaching week is 15 hours from Monday to Friday but we can organise additional afternoon lessons if required.
We offer courses from A1 to C1 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference.
Course objectives are agreed as part of the course development process and differ from course to course.
Over the years, we have designed specific programmes focusing on:
- Exam preparation for PET, FCE, CAE, IELTS and Trinity
- International Baccalaureate
- British culture
- Marketing
- Tourism
- Healthcare
- English for work
- Project presentation
We are happy to help educational tour operators, group leaders, and schools choose the course that best suits their students’ needs. Please feel free to contact us and let us know what your requirements are.
Welfare and Student Care
We recognise that living in a foreign country can sometimes be difficult for students. Students can find things different or confusing particularly at a young age. Whether students need practical advice or are just feeling a little homesick, our friendly teachers and office staff are always there to help. Outside office hours, we have a 24-hour emergency telephone number that students can call.
We also appreciate that sending a child abroad to study can be worrying for parents. We want to make sure that we give parents all the information they need to know they are making the right decision in sending their child to join us at CELT.
We take our responsibilities for young learners very seriously and we have rigorous policies and procedures in place to make sure children have the best possible experience in a safe and secure learning environment. We have a designated Safeguarding Officer and all our staff are trained to work with under-18s.
If there are any aspects of the programme that are not clear, please feel free to contact us.
Note for Parents/Legal Guardians
Students attending CELT’s Holiday Language Course and Closed Group Courses are supervised by our staff during lessons and organised social programme activities at the times indicated in the sample programme. Students must take part in the full activity programme and are not permitted to go off on their own during activities.
Students on this programme are accommodated with homestay providers in the city and will be expected to use local buses to travel between the school and their accommodation. During this time they will not be supervised by either our staff or the homestay providers.
In the evenings and on Sundays when no activities are programmed, students usually stay with their homestay providers unless they have written permission from their parents or guardians stating that they are allowed to go out unaccompanied.
